Diplomacy in DC

Posted October 27th, 2009 by Conrad

Two weekends ago I went to Washington DC with my father to play in a Diplomacy tournament. It was a great weekend. I got to play diplomacy, spend time with my father, and see one of my fraternity brothers, Jerome. Although I was quite ill, I think I made the most of it. It was also my first appearance to the hobby since becoming the president of the North American Diplomacy Federation (NADF) (the post is not a competitive post to get since no one wanted it). Anyway, I don’t have much to say other than it was great fun. Here are some pictures with captions for your enjoyment:

It’s nice to see that trees still change colors in some places.

Saturday at the tournament was jersey day. This crazy Canadian started a fight with one of my upstanding and very civil American friends.

We went into the trading floor over the weekend and I secretly traded away 100 billion dollars on a pyramid scheme.

So Jerome bought this little Alfa Romeo. It was less than 3000 bucks. I think it was a 1983. It had less than 70000 miles on it. Elizabeth pointed out to me that I look like Cameron from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Jerome let me drive it around DC even though I have never really driven stick before (I may have neglected to tell him that when he agreed to let me drive). It was great.
