Today on my way to work some famous gun shop (I will try find out which store and update this post later) was advertising on the radio. They advertised themselves as being vital to counter terrorism. According to this advertisement, there is a lot of terrorist activity going on outside the US but there is more than you know going on inside the US. It is important to arm and protect yourself. There is also the problem of (and yes this is a direct quote) “illegal immigrants crossing the border bent on murder.”
This is a clear case of fear mongering as a form of advertisement. I wish I had the commercial recorded for everyone to hear.

WOW. I haven’t heard that commercial yet, what station was it on? As for “illegal immigrants” should read this chain email someone sent me this morning.

Well, you have to admit that they aren’t coming across the border for the food. Perhaps it is murder, yes MURDER that occupies their thoughts, as they seek to take jobs and send money home to their families. Perhaps they have taken out life insurance policies on YOU, and will be the recipient when you are unaccountably killed! In the prime of life! If only you had been armed and able to defend yourself. Sad, really.

Something really strange happened this past weekend regarding that thought. A person that I know profits off of trafficking a large amount of Mexicans across the border for cheap labor in his business. On Saturday night one of the illegals supposedly got a little unruly and one of the “security guards” hired to watch over the bunch decided to shoot the man in the foot. The shot was heard and cops were brought in and the man shot was brought to the hospital, treated, and then released. The “guard” that shot him had no charges pressed against him, the illegal went right back into the original group, and no charges were pressed against the man that brought them all here. So they all got off scot-free minus the injured foot. Wrong on so many levels.

Well, if you follow the news, you’ll know that all along the border of Texas there have been quite a few gang related crimes(like in Juarez across the border from El Paso). I’m not saying all illegals are affiliated with gangs, but to rule it completely out would be as ignorant as saying all illegals are bent on murder. There was definitely some fear mongering in that commercial, but isn’t that the first step in brain washing? Create a climate of fear and you’ll have complete control.

@Bennyscrap: I agree, although around here I feel a lot of people are already brain washed. This is just maintaining proper cleanliness. Fear is one of several critical things you need to control people.
