Texas hates me

Posted January 26th, 2009 by Conrad

Wow. So this has been the worst start of any year for me ever. Literally everything has been going wrong. Quickly, here is a list. I think that some greater power that exists only in Texas is out to get me. No but seriously, I must have done something really bad to have such bad Karma.

  • I kicked off the new year with viral bronchitis. Since I don’t have any vacation time saved up yet, I had to work. It was terrible
  • My brand new car got 6000+ dollars worth of damage. I am still trying to deal with getting a rental car that the insurance company will pay for.
  • I ruined my new teapot by leaving it on the stove with no water.
  • I lost power last week. I had gotten up extra early so that I could make myself a hot breakfast with eggs and toast and olives. The power dropped out just as I had cracked the eggs and started cooking them.
  • My hot water heater failed. I live in a brand new apartment complex. My heater was the only one to go bad, and it was down for two days before they gave up trying to fix it and brought me a new one.
  • This is a blessing or a curse depending on how you look at it. Most of the people at work that I like and am friends with are getting released from their jobs and will be transferring to other projects around the world. Yes I keep my job, but if I get released at a later date, there will be fewer openings available within the company.

I am sure something else will go wrong. Fortunately I wasn’t here last weekend (Baton Rouge) and I am gone this weekend (Seattle), so Texas won’t be able to get me. But I am going to have to figure out a way to put an end to this.

My last brand new “luxury” apartment flooded the day before I moved in. And I did not get a phone call… I simply opened the door, ready to start moving in boxes, and there was no carpet.
