Cut and Shoot, Texas: City Hall

Yeah so it’s not a joke. There is a place in Texas called ‘Cut and Shoot.’ I know, i was amazed too. I took 105 back from the Woodlands (north of Houston) after visiting my cousins. Well 105 goes right through this place. I had to stop and take a few pictures because i thought it was so funny. The town itself is pretty run down and ugly. It only has 1200 residents and from what i could tell, no real business or industry. If you are at all interested you can read the wikipedia article on it (which is all i know about the town):

Here are a few more pictures of the town just so you know i am not making this up:

The more modern way to spell the town's name

The more modern way to spell the town (or they didn't have enough money to buy all the letters)

'in god we trust'... not to let us blow ourselves up

'in god we trust'… not to let us blow ourselves up?

I thought this was hilarious. I don’t even think you are allowed to light fireworks in Texas (can someone confirm that for me?). Fortunately Texas is not big on regulation, or effective law enforcement, so these kinds of places are not uncommon.

…You are allowed to light fireworks in Texas. Why do you think we can’t light fireworks?? The only time you can not light them is if there is a burn ban. Also they only sell fireworks close to the 4th of July, and New Years. The rest of the year all of those places are closed.

Some cities do not allow fireworks to be fired off in their city. Beaumont is one of those. Out in the more wooded areas, fireworks are an acceptable form of family entertainment/high quality explosives. Cut and Shoot is by far the best name for a town in Texas.
